Students are heading back to school, the New York State Fair is underway, and that means FALL GOLF is just around the corner.
That’s right – the pristine, sunny, and comfortable conditions that allow golfers in the Finger Lakes to enjoy the season right down to the last swing. If this year is anything like last year, it could even mean playing on Christmas Eve.
Much of that is several months away, though, so we’ll enjoy the great summer weather while we have it. While we received some much needed rain last Sunday – the most measurable rain since May, according to Superintendent Paul Clark – the region remains in an extreme drought.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our superintendent and his remarkable staff – the course remains in phenomenal condition. While managing a course under conditions like these can be a challenge – Paul Clark and his staff have done a great job keeping ahead of the dry weather – keeping Silver Creek Golf Club among the best in the entire Finger Lakes region.
Tournament action has started slowing down at Silver Creek with none being held last week, or this upcoming week. That means it’s the ideal time to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather coming our way this week.
Highs are expected to remain in the 80s throughout – and as leagues slow down, too, the open golf season can really start to pick up. Call the pro shop at any time to schedule your next outing.
On August 21st Silver Creek Golf Club competed in the annual Canal Cup against a team from the Seneca Falls Country Club. While the Silver Creek team had a poor showing that afternoon – a great day was had by everyone who participated. We appreciate everyone’s efforts – including Seneca Falls Country Club’s efforts to put on an incredibly memorable day.
As leagues come to an end this fall – we will also be highlighting the winners of each. Stay tuned for that, and as always – remember to check out Silver Creek Golf Club on Facebook to have the latest delivered to your smartphone.
