Summer finally feels like it’s here, as temperatures will reach well into the 80s for a second consecutive weekend.
While the course has seen a lot of rain over the last 30 days, it has handled all of the water incredibly well. Thanks to the continued efforts by Superintendent Paul Clark and his staff, the course is now in mid-season condition. Greens are rolling like August, fairways are pristine, and the rough is more than playable.
The rest of the month is fairly quiet for tournaments. There won’t be any major events that impact play for open golfers.
In the pro shop, Silver Creek has begun receiving new merchandise, which includes some lightweight long-sleeve quarter-zip golf jackets. We’re also featuring the “I Heart Finger Lakes” t-shirts, which have been popular sellers throughout the region.
The Dungeon is officially open, as well, featuring daily hours Monday through Thursday for dinner from 5 pm until 9 pm — as well as lunch hours Monday through Friday from 11 am until 3 pm. Even if you don’t have time for a round of golf, stop by for a bite to eat — and check out our Dungeon page, which features our most up-to-date menu. The ‘Shack’ is also open on Saturdays and Sundays for golfers who are hungry or thirsty on the course.
This weekend is Fathers Day, which means that the course will be packed. Gift certificates are available and make great gifts for every golfer in the Finger Lakes.
Last weekend the 2017 Camp Onseyawa tournament was held at Silver Creek, which featured a great turnout for a great cause.
The event, along with several others sponsored by organizers — raise money for an annual camping experience in August for 8- to 16-year-old children with disabilities from the Seneca, Yates, Wayne, and Ontario county area.
Part of their mission is to foster independence and acceptance of others through social, recreational and educational aspects of life.
The entire Silver Creek Golf Club team is proud to host events like these, which not only support great organizations like these — but also make the community better.
