It felt like fall at Silver Creek Golf Club over the weekend, as members participated in their annual Club Championship.
The course was set to championship difficulty, as Superintendent Paul Clark and staff created stellar conditions for the 36-hole tournament.
Josh Durso captured his second title in the championship division – carding a pair of 74s. However, that win didn’t come without challenge. Mike Burdsall, who has nine titles, came into the second round with a two stroke lead. Durso and Burdsall battled throughout the round for position, with the winner carrying a one-stroke lead into the final hole. That lead was retained, and Durso capped off a memorable year with another title.
Danielle Roetting captured her eighth title – shooting a 179 over the two days. Trish Brewer, another multi-title winner carded a 182 to finish runner-up.
Jack Stenberg, former Seneca County Sheriff, captured his first Senior Club Championship title – firing a two-day 145 for the win. Eric Brace finished runner-up in the senior division – missing a playoff by 8.
L.J. Siblosky captured his first Junior Club Championship, as Tyler Adle finished runner-up – both carding impressive scores for such young players. The duo are part of a rising crop of talent at Waterloo High School, where the golf team is beginning to grow from improved youth participation.
